Can SELF provide me legal advice?

The Arizona State Supreme Court has restricted the types of services that may be provided by a Certified Legal Document Preparer (“CLDP”). As a CLDP, SELF cannot provide you legal advice, but instead can provide general information and assist you in completing court and other legal documents. If you are in need of legal advice, SELF will instruct you that we cannot provide legal advice and provide a list of individuals and law firms that can provide you legal advice.

Can SELF go to court with me?

No, an employee of SELF will not attend any court hearing that you have because SELF is not authorized to act on your behalf. Instead, SELF will ensure that any document that you need assistance with is prepared in the proper format, as required by courts in Arizona.

What if I need Legal Advice?

If at any time, SELF is unable to provide answers to your questions or you request legal advice regarding your legal document preparation, SELF will provide you with a list of local law firms that may provide assistance. SELF does not represent that any law firm is more qualified than the other and will not be deemed responsible for the advice received from the law firm.

What Law firms does SELF refer clients to?

During your time working with SELF, if you ever need legal advice, SELF will provide you with a list of law firms in the central Arizona area that may be able to provide answers to your legal questions. You will never be required to seek the advice of any attorney, nor the advice of any attorney listed below.
